Akane & Gimpei | Kiyomizu, Kyoto | Japan Engagement Photography
It was such an incredible honor to fly to Japan in order to photograph Akane and Gimpei’s wedding. While the wedding itself was on Saturday in Osaka, we took some time on Friday to take a side trip to Kyoto and photograph some engagement-style portraits the day before the wedding. To be in such a beautifully historic place with such great company– I am endlessly grateful to have such amazing clients in a career that I so wholeheartedly love.
We explored the area around Kiyomizu-dera, a temple on the Eastern side of Kyoto.
We stood high above Kyoto just as the sun was beginning to set.
Backlight. Swoon.
After a couple hours of shooting in the very cold weather– it doesn’t look like it in the photos, but it was probably in the 30s– we ducked in to a tea shop and Akane and Gimpei introduced us to amazake, a sweet, non-alcoholic rice drink– the perfect thing to wrap our shoot and warm us up.
Such a wonderful day. Thank you to my friends Ho Chie and Jesse for coming along as well! Check back for photos of Akane & Gimpei’s beautiful wedding, coming soon.
