Post-TAF Chicago

|

After a week at TAF, we drove back up from North Manchester, Indiana, to Chicago. I visit the city regularly, about once or twice a year, and though I’ve never lived in Chicago, it always feels a bit like home. Our days after TAF were still filled with TAFers, doing our classic post-TAF gathering in Chinatown and following it up with other foodie mini-adventures too.

Mittens the cat was on hand to welcome us back to Chikuan’s place.

I think Mittens missed her calling as a cat model.

We headed to Chicago Chinatown where we promptly took over 60 seats in the restaurant.

I went up to the second floor balcony to grab a shot of everyone– and this was after quite a few people had left, too.

Monday morning, we assembled a small brunch crew to try out the Little Goat– the diner sibling to Girl & the Goat.

So much mid-century modern swag.

Evelyn and Alice were literally squealing with delight over the cute little goat icons inside the mugs.

The food was good, and interestingly Asian-influenced.

Then it was time for another TAF gathering, this time at Diho, which is a small Asian mall with a food court that just looks more and more neglected every year.

Our brunch crew went for a little shopping spree in Wicker Park, checking out Scotch & Soda…

and a great tea shop next door, and then some of us stayed and got manicures. Back at Ming’s place, Evelyn made spaghetti for everyone.

Tuesday morning, we headed to Longman & Eagle, a nice whiskey bar with delicious food…

Midwest is best!

So delicious, it earned its Michelin star.

The end! I’m sure I’ll be back soon!
