Quince | San Francisco Food Photography

My boyfriend is quite the sweetheart. For my birthday, Jesse took me out to Quince, a newly-minted two-star Michelin restaurant in San Francisco (upgraded from one star last year). The service was impeccable, the food of course delightful, but most notably, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and not overly pretentious.

Jesse even had them customize my menu with “Happy Birthday Anna.” We kicked it off with a glass of bubbly, served in Zalto stemware, which we noticed right away for its remarkably light touch and thin stem.

Quince has three tasting menus to choose from. We opted for the full “Quince” menu, as opposed to the abbreviated “Winter” menu or the vegetarian “Garden” menu.

In the midst of dessert, we were presented with this digestif bar cart. I’ve never seen this at a restaurant and loved the offering. The server introduced the wide array of post-dinner liquors and helped us to each make a selection. I went with a sweet, but not too cloying, Lazzaroni Amaretto (the yellow glass  on the right) and Jesse opted for a Barolo Chinato, a fortified wine filled with beautiful complexity and perfectly paired with chocolate.

Happy Birthday to me! More desserts, some treats to go, and we were even handed cups of hot chocolate as we walked out the door. Thank you Jesse!
