Afternoon Tea at Laduree & Springtime around NYC
A month after my last trip to New York City, I was back again in May to photograph a lovely wedding and to enjoy more springtime adventures. We kick off the post with afternoon tea at Laduree in Soho!
The famous Laduree is undeniably cute, but the already-expensive macarons ($2.85 I believe) jump to $3.15 a piece once you sit down to dine in. And the pastries, around $6/ea, jump to $11. Individual tea pots are required, at $7/ea, and they came out lukewarm and watery. So, all in all, way too overpriced to ever do it again. But it’s cute to look at! See below.
We stopped by Whole Foods one night to pick up some flowers for the apartment. My boyfriend Jesse turned out to be deathly allergic to them, but he let me keep them (in the fridge) overnight just so I could arrange them and take some photos the next day. Then I played flower delivery girl and went up and down Manhattan giving them away to three of my friends!
I love the English iced tea bottle from our dinner the night before. Makes for the perfect casual flower vessel.
Dinner with Jesse at his new favorite spot for Korean-inspired wings: Distilled NY. Below: short ribs, a spring medley (compliments of the chef), the delicious wings, and their signature popcorn with cumin powder and all sorts of deliciousness.
On the last night, I met up with some TAF friends at Hi-Collar, a little Japanese cafe in the East Village.
Vince’s Katsu sandwich looked pretty good!
And then we capped it off with dinner at Sobaya. I think I see the New Yorkers more often than my San Francisco friends!
I’ll be back yet again next month!
