Anika & Vijay | Treasure Island | San Francisco Wedding Photography
Friends of this blog may remember Anika and Vijay from their adorable proposal, which I captured while hiding behind a couch, or from their epic wedding in India! Well, they’re back again for another round of photos. While their wedding in India was incredible, it wasn’t quite legally binding for California, so we got together again for a little ceremony to sign their marriage license. Their friend Ben was on hand to officiate, and I had the honor of playing witness as well as photographer.
Ben brought all of the accoutrements for this little seaside ceremony. The orange blanket was a gift from Vijay in college. He also brought coconut milk, flowers, and bananas as handy incense holders. It was way too windy to light the incense or a candle, but we improvised.
Super excited Ben greets Vijay!
Making it official.
Ben provided some candies for the couple to feed each other (a traditional element of Hindu ceremonies).
And then things got even more interesting when a tour bus pulled up.
Ben asked for volunteers to join in the ceremony.
And voila! Rice throwers!
And what improvised Indian wedding officiated by a Jewish man would be complete without a little breaking of the glass, combined with the crushing of a lemon, which is for good luck in Indian culture? It was a very unique celebration, for sure!
Congratulations (again), Anika & Vijay! This little ceremony was so much fun.
