Rebecca & Dave | Monterey Beach Wedding Photography
All throughout Friday and up until the morning of the wedding, dark clouds doused the area with a hearty bout of rain– much-needed for the drought-ridden state of California, but much-dreaded for Rebecca and Dave’s dreams of a wedding on the beach. We were all ready to be good sports about it all. The wedding would be perfect, rain or not. But with a stroke of good luck (or was it a favor called in by Dave’s Episcopal-priest-mother?) the rain stopped, as if on cue, right around noon. As the girls were getting ready, we looked out from the balcony and could see the rows of white chairs being set out on the beach in the distance. They would get their outdoor beach wedding after all. And yes, it was perfect.
It’s such a special privilege to help two friends capture their wedding day. And in this case, I got to indulge in a whole three days of celebrating Rebecca and Dave: bachelorette party on Thursday, rehearsal dinner and a halloween party on Friday, and the wedding on Saturday. I am just so happy for these two, and it was the greatest time getting to be a part of it all.
Rebcca’s bridesmaids made up a whole watercolor rainbow, complete with color coordinated sandals, bouquets, jewelry, and pedicures.
Rebecca calls herself a “professional wedding crier.” She was going to say nice things to her bridesmaids as she handed out their gifts. She got as far as “Holly is my oldest friend,” before the tears got her and she gave up. The nice things would go have to go out in emails at a later date.
Meanwhile, the guys enjoyed a game of Cards Against Humanity.
Rebecca and Dave had a crazy two-story penthouse suite at the Marriott, from where we could see most of Monterey Bay, including the wedding venue off in the distance.
First Look! Thanks to Rachel, Lam, and Sarah who literally toweled off the whole balcony so that we could have the first look out there.
Giant wedding party!
Rebecca insisted that I not line the whole wedding party up in one long line (20 people!), but I kind of did anyway.
Panda and Coco (the dogs) got to join in the ceremony too.

This was a beautiful sand ceremony by the parents. Joining four colors of sand, never to be separated again. And it makes for a lovely art piece in the end too.
Rebecca is from Pittsburgh, and it’s apparently a Pittsburgh tradition to have a ton of cookies at weddings. Cookies of all kinds! And cupcakes too.
Rebecca’s bouquet had two charms, one for each of her grandparents.
