Mast Brothers, Bellocq Tea, & More | Brooklyn in November
The last Saturday of my November New York trip, we headed to Brooklyn for a tour of Mast Brothers Chocolate. You might recognize the graphic, patterned papers that encase Mast Brothers’ chocolate bars. Every single bar comes from this very Brooklyn factory.
This is my only photo of the actual “tour” part, as they don’t allow pictures of the back part of the factory, but it was delicious! We got samples! And then we bought way too many chocolate bars to take home.
In the afternoon, we checked out Bellocq Tea Atelier, the most instagrammable tea shop I ever did see.
So pretty!
Next, a visit to Ovenly, an adorable bakeshop.
Rewind to the first week of the trip, when we snuck in a couple Brooklyn eats. On the left and center: Chez Jose’s new brick-and-mortar incarnation, Semilla; on the right, Briskettown.
Finally, Michelle’s birthday! She and Frank hosted in their Long Island City apartment, and Frank had the most elaborate and delicious menu! Oysters, sashimi, foie gras soup dumplings, pok pok wings, and the best pork shoulder ever.
In his bid for ‘best husband ever,’ Frank also arranged for a surprise video for Michelle with greetings from her friends all over the world. Some messages were touching and others were hilarious, capped off with Young’s creepy greeting. =)
Happy Birthday Michelle!
Bye for now, New York. I’ll come back when it’s less cold there. =)
