Connecticut & Rhode Island

|

We caught the tail end of fall when we visited the East Coast to attend Alex’s friend’s wedding in New England. We flew to New York and then took a road trip to Connecticut and Rhode Island, making a quick tour of New Haven, Mystic, and Providence along the way. Glimpse a bit of the autumn adventures below!

Stop one: New Haven! I’ve never actually been. We tried the clam pie at Frank Pepe’s. Alright, but I’d rather have clam chowder or a margherita pizza.

Yale!

Checking out the very fancy Beinecke rare books library.

Getting fancy with our 360° selfies.

And the Sterling Memorial Library.

Found New Haven in New Haven. Studying very hard at Yale.

Then we made it to Mystic, Connecticut, home base for the weekend. Just in time for happy hour at Oyster Club.

And then the Engine Room for dinner.

Breakfast the next morning at Sift Cafe.

Then over to Providence, Rhode Island. First, another library! The Athenaeum.

Next, we popped in to RISD’s Nature Lab. It’s not usually open to the public, but a very nice professor let us in to wander around freely. All of these cabinets are filled with various specimens that students are welcome to explore and handle.

So fun! You can touch whatever you find!

There are even live animals, although I don’t think you can just handle these at will.

Very cool.

Then a brief look at Brown’s campus. Just bobbleheading at all the ivies.

Autumn over Providence.

The Rhode Island state house, which I visited last year!

Bayberry Beer Hall.

And for dinner, Oberlin.

Back in Mystic.

Cute shops, cute restaurants. Down by the water.

A little wine country excursion to Saltwater Farm Vineyard before the wedding.

Then it was wedding time! Over in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, where Taylor Swift reportedly has a house down the street.

The Ocean House.

Alex and his crew who all used to work together in NYC.

Just before leaving to go back to New York, we hit peak fall with a visit to the cider mill.

Apple cider donuts!

And a final lunch at a lobster shack in Noank!

Such a fun little tour through Connecticut and Rhode Island! Stay tuned for the NYC portion of the trip.
