Bay Area | May, 2021
May was a whole lot of shuttling back and forth between our two homes, in San Francisco and the South Bay. Plus, we completed our vaccines and worked our way to some sense of normalcy!
First, bagels from Daily Driver. And a homemade tri tip sandwich, with tri tip that Alex smoked.
At the house, building a bunch of new furniture!
And we adopted a couple new plants too, like this teeny pineapple!! from Ikea. Haha. I love it.
Lots of shuttling between two houses, with a ton of stuff carried along the way.
Monthly accountability group! With the babies!
Trying to figure out deck plans…
I sorted and labeled all the sheets and pillowcases, haha.
Garage organization!
Just getting more and more into the Apple universe. But I’m still an Android user!
Matching frames for my Pamela Baron prints. And– wallpaper samples! We’re wallpapering my office, Alex’s office, and Cassie’s bathroom. All hand-drawn by me.
Immunity! Thank you to the Native American Health Center in Oakland for my vaccines! I got to stop by Red Bay to pick up some coffee for Alex too.
Paint Club, with more patterns!
Craft room! Organized! I love it. Plus, trying to decide on the scale of my wallpaper. Hope it turns out as nice in real life.
Happy Birthday to Alex’s dad!
Homemade Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup.
Our very first veggie pickup! We joined the CSA (community-supported agriculture) for Radical Family Farms, an amazing queer, Asian heritage veggie farm based in Sonoma. Every other week, we go over to Kin Khao to get our box of veggies that we then dutifully figure out how to cook and eat.
Weekly accountability check-in.
Our first time cooking A-Cai or celtuce. The top dish is the leaves and the bottom is the stem. And in the second photo, Tokyo turnips with miso.
Something went awry with our fiddle… and this half dead half alive leaf. Zombie leaf… it grew a new leaf on top of this one, but the zombie leaf is still like that, a month later! I don’t know. Meanwhile, we added to our fish-sitting duties by taking in a whole bunch of plants from a neighbor who’s out of town for the summer. So now we have a whole pet & plant hotel running out of our place.
Beef with rau ram and pizza with basil from our CSA.
Pork rib & daikon soup, with bok choy. Plus roasted Korean radishes with radish top pesto.
I tried a new pineapple cake! Very tasty. @jasonbakessf on instagram.
Vince, visiting from out of town! That’s a thing.
Pudge cookies from Batch 22 Bakery!
I drew these Taiwanese fruits and made them into fabric! And then I sewed a handkerchief for Courtney’s pup and a baby beanie for her bebe, arriving later this year. So cute.
More house things, cord keepers from Etsy for my new desk. And getting ready to work at my first 2021 wedding, charging up allllll the batteries.
Bye, May! Ready to emerge into a whole different reality in the next month. Stay tuned.
