San Francisco Crosstown Trail, Section 2

|

The Crosstown Trail is a wonderful volunteer-assembled walking/biking trail that extends from the southeast to the northwest corners of San Francisco. They recently just celebrated the 5-year anniversary of the trail and added a “Double Cross Trail” to complete the X from the southwest to northeast corners of the city.

It took us and the Valentes about five months to organize ourselves for the first leg of the Crosstown Trail. Luckily it took only a couple weeks to continue on the next leg. We parked exactly where we left off the first time and continued through McLaren Park towards Glen Canyon.

City views from McLaren!

Some pleasant eucalyptus forests.

A funny Valente Family photo.

And then we emerged in a small park and into a neighborhood. Excelsior! The streets here are all named after random global cities and countries.

This was my first time crossing over a Bay Area highway on a pedestrian overpass. It wasn’t all that fun. Just very loud and very windy and not exactly welcoming, haha.

We emerged by Alemany Farm and walked into Glen Park. More than one house had a color matched car out front!

So cute.

Just like that, we completed this particular segment for the day.

After some fetching of vehicles, we took a short drive over to Bernal to check out the new modern Taiwanese spot, The Rabbit Hole.

Very cute patio out back!

Lots of tasty Taiwanese-inspired brunch items! We like all of these things: baos, youtiao, fries, popcorn chicken, porridge, mochi waffles, and the smash burger (not pictured). We came back at a later date and I would not recommend the fan tuan, but everything else was delicious.

Such a lovely walk through a little bit of our city that I never explore. I hope we can get back to the third section soon!
