San Francisco Crosstown Trail, Section 3

|

One week after we completed section two of the Crosstown Trail, we resumed the hike with section three: “the stair section!” I wouldn’t have guessed it would be my favorite section (since walking up and down a ton of stairs doesn’t sound all that fun), but it turned out to be absolutely beautiful and charming!

We began by taking a Muni lightrail to the Forest Hill Station, where we last left off.

Beautiful neighborhoods as we venture northward.

And so begins the many, many stairs, as promised!

With stairs come views!

I also love all the adorable tiny free libraries in this neighborhood. Really charming, especially at golden hour.

Ocean!

So many different things packed into our little city.

Oh hello, Sutro Tower. We made it to Grandview Park.

I spy the top of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Beautiful. Such a worthwhile reward for climbing all those stairs. And perfectly timed with this beautiful sunset light.

Time for the descent.

Down the famous 16th Ave Steps– tiled from top to bottom in mosaics.

And the lesser known Hidden Garden Steps, a continuation as you go down 16th Ave.

A hot bowl of pho at Kevin’s was the perfect post-hike meal.

This was my surprise favorite section for the whole crosstown trail!
