Mairin & Nikhil, Part 1 of 2 | Catholic Ceremony & Baraat | Rhode Island Wedding Photography
I am so excited to share this beautiful Indian wedding extravaganza with you all. It was our incredible honor to document both photo and video for Mairin and Nikhil and to see all these beautiful parts of Rhode Island too. Because Mairin’s family is Catholic while Nikhil’s is Hindu, they celebrated both with two different ceremonies. It was a packed weekend starting with a sangeet on Saturday and the church ceremony, baraat, Hindu ceremony, reception, and everything in between on Sunday. But throughout the wedding day, there was just one thing that stood out above everything else– the way these two look at each other. It’s timeless and enduring, with such adoration and abandon as if nothing else in the world exists. What a beautiful thing to witness.
This multi-part wedding was just too much to fit into one post, so we start with part one: getting ready, the first look, the Catholic ceremony in Cranston, and going back to Newport for the baraat. Enjoy!
Mairin had multiple outfit changes throughout their wedding, but the opening number was this gorgeous beaded Lazaro gown.
We headed to Belle Mer for some gorgeous portraits before anything else started.
Such a beautiful, happy bride!
Meanwhile, Nikhil was getting ready in the other room of the suite. The bowtie took a bit of figuring out, but he got it in the end.
This is such an adorable first look. Such genuine happiness!
Such gorgeous florals.
I love these personalized “m&n’s” and of course Mairin’s beautiful henna.
Then everyone drove up to Cranston about 45 minutes north and headed to St. Mary’s for the church ceremony.
And then it was back to Belle Mer for the rest of the evening. Mairin had a quick transformation to this gorgeous Indian sari.
Meanwhile, Nikhil got up on his white horse! It was a surprise for all the guests.
He rode out for the baraat, an Indian procession with the groom and his family.
No Indian celebration is complete without some dancing!
And at the culmination of the baraat, the bride’s family welcomes the groom with sweets and blessings.
There’s much more to come in Part 2!
