A Weekend in Truckee

|

Alex and I usually go up to Tahoe at least once or twice a year. This January, we went up for a long weekend so Alex could go snowboarding, while I lived my lodge life, staying at our Airbnb and working on my wooden mahjong set that I’ve been carving! See a summary of our short little trip below.

I grew up in Michigan and have no desire to go back to living in a place with real winters, but opting in to winter for just a few days is great!

We tried a new-to-us place for a quick dinner, Buoy & Trap Seafood Market. Delicious! Would recommend the lobster roll.

One of our favorites, Sierra Bakehouse. So many delicious goodies.

Trying another new-to-us place, Red Truck, which is an eatery at the tiny Truckee Airport. The food was ok, but it was entertaining to watch the planes take off!

A favorite walk along the Truckee River.

Favorite shop in Truckee: Atelier/Bespoke.

And a new restaurant, Tangerine French Bistro. So good, and very cute!

Here’s my daily project while Alex goes snowboarding at Palisades: carving my San Francisco-themed mahjong tiles!

The fanciest grocery store you ever did see, Raley’s. They have three fireplaces and a bar area where we saw a person working on her pottery.

Donner Memorial State Park.

Donner Lake

And a final lunch at Donner Lake Kitchen before heading back to the Bay!
