Megan & Hari | Moraga Wedding Photography
Megan and Hari were married last year, mid-pandemic, with only their officiant and a camera on a tripod as their witnesses. They were thrilled to be wed but really missed having their families there. So they planned the most thoughtful celebration for their one-year anniversary. Hari’s parents hosted the event in their back yard, and Hari’s father, who has become a theological scholar in his retirement, officiated their Hindu ceremony. They incorporated both traditional elements and customized elements personalized to Megan and Hari’s relationship. Megan’s father, a Catholic deacon, offered a blessing as well. In fact each of the family members played important roles in the ceremony. And afterwards, they offered the most heartfelt toasts. Perhaps the biggest surprise and delight of the day was Megan and Hari’s nephews, who had just met for the first time for these wedding celebrations and clearly and immediately took to each other. All in all, it was the most wonderful celebration, the kind I love most, full of heart-to-heart connections.
After the ceremony and lunch, Megan and Hari headed to the redwoods with me. The couple chose the redwoods both for their love of the coastal tree and as a symbol of their ability to endure through all seasons.
Congratulations, Megan & Hari! Truly an honor.
