Our Wedding Weekend
One of the great joys of our wedding celebrations was being able to stay for the whole weekend on site at the villa overlooking the venue. What a beautiful place to spend quality time with our friends and family! Here are some of the behind-the-scenes moments from my camera and phone from a truly wonderful weekend!
Spectacular sunsets every single night.
Family dinner for the villa crew.
Alex and I found this wooden mahjong set at the antiques fair, but the plastic tile holders it came with were terrible. So Michael made us these wooden tile holders custom-designed for the set! An amazing wedding gift.
Just one of my many meticulously packed plastic tubs full of wedding supplies. And the groom, surveying the scene one day before the wedding.
One of the last wedding projects, the decorating of the Jeep! Alex and Michael had to first take it apart in the villa garage, and then Cassie and Do-Hee spent a while decorating it according to the plans that Jeri drew up for them. All to keep it a surprise from me and Alex until it was time to drive it up from the wedding, haha.
First time any of us have actually used one of these pot fillers.
Poolside mahjong!
Most adorable villa guest, gearing up to learn how to walk!
Second night’s family dinner: carnitas, made by Cassie.
Another night, another stunning golden hour.
Then Alex’s whole family came by to see the villa after dinner too!
Hello! It’s wedding day! Here are the few random phone photos that I have from the day. First, a nice shot of me wearing ALL of our friends’ rings. Pretty stack, haha.
Matching Coyuchi robes for the girls. And my mom meets little L.
Stashing everyone’s cars was a whole thing, but we figured it all out, and my brother and Michael both helped with running a mini valet service to keep things running smoothly! Just item number 986 on my wedding planning details list. Luckily I love a good spreadsheet.
These ladies all got the spring florals memo.
Just a couple of my awesome vendors behind the scenes! Ashley of Ash + Oak and Zha Zha, behind the lens.
Wedding selfies.
Our escort card table, and a before and after of our cousins’ photo.
Admiring the goats too. And after the wedding, sunset back up at the villa!
Followed by a bunch of mahjong and a bit of hot tub by the moonlight. Perfect afterparty.
Final morning at the villa! Time to pack up and roll out.
Stephanie was a MVP with the flowers, putting her florist skills from a past life in weddings to good use and re-bundling our wedding florals into Mothers Day bouquets to give to our family the next morning! Plus a little ikebana moment that was actually from the wedding by Ash + Oak. The kumquats!
Jeep, still decorated. And Do-Hee admiring my brother’s car that got conscripted into being a wedding shuttle.
Saying bye for now to villa life.
And rolling over to Healdsburg for an adorable picnic on the square.
So happy some of our friends and family were able to stick around the area for this! My cousin Theresa also shared her new children’s book The Yet Pet with all of us.
And yes, we still rolled all the way home in our decorated Jeep (but with the top put back on it). And had some flowers to enjoy back at home!
That evening, we somehow still rallied to go back out to the Valentes’ for mahjong night before Do-Hee flew out that night. We got to see the plastic trays that Michael 3D printed to make our custom chocolates, and he gave us the silicone moulds too. Perhaps we should make more things with them, haha.
Will play mahjong with my faves any time, even while very very tired from a very fun weekend. LOVE!
