We Bring the Sun | With Etiquette

|

4AM, the alarms were going off. We clumsily got ourselves together, fumbling around to pack everything up. 4:30, We walked through the hotel, noting scantily clad women draping themselves over happy men, still living in yesterday. We cut through the brisk dark air as we walked down the Vegas Strip. Deserted. Just past 5AM, we arrived at the MGM and stayed just inside the sliding doors, staving off the cold that awaited us in the desert.

We were in Las Vegas for the big wedding & portrait photography convention, WPPI. We didn’t come here for music a concert or the freezing cold desert. But then we signed up for just that.

We piled on to three busses, DSLRs all around, leaving our photography convention, eager for an experience. The bus drove slowly, taking longer than expected, all the while, the sky beginning to do its dance with bands of color stretching across the horizon. Finally, the bus pulled over to a patch of land somewhere in the desert, rolled hesitantly over the uneven terrain, and we arrived. Just as the sun rose, the setup was finalized, the sound check run through one more time, and it began.

A concert, in the middle of the desert, as the sun rose.

The “We Bring the Sun” concert was the brainchild of With Etiquette, an indy music licensing company for wedding photography/videography. With Etiquette also happens to be the same people as Stillmotion, quite possibly the best wedding videography company ever. Amina introduces the show.

Jesh de Rox, a very renowned photographer, plays through his icicle fingers and sings some heartbreaking songs.

Kelli Schaefer performs. Patrick of Stillmotion runs around in the back with his steadicam.

Shang tries to stay warm.

Kevin & me.

Frozen fingers and toes. But surreal and totally worth it.
