Abigail & Chris | One Year Anniversary | San Francisco Photography
This is one of my favorite collaborations I have ever been a part of. When Abigail, editor of Wedding Row California, came upon her one year wedding anniversary with her husband Chris, we helped them to celebrate in style. It was such a pleasure to photograph the happy couple and to work with our entire team. I am so proud of these images, not only for the images’ sake, but also because one of the first things Chris said to me was that he hates the entire experience of being photographed. But within the first five minutes of working together, I think he decided it was fine. Besides, look at how amazingly gorgeous and fun these two are together! You can also see this shoot featured on Smitten Magazine and Wedding Row California.
The beautiful camel feather fascinator was created by Erica Elizabeth Designs.
I will let Abigail tell the whole story of their one year anniversary, including the significance behind the wine box below!
Chris and I got married last May right outside of Charleston, SC. Shortly after we got home from our honeymoon we had plans of packing up and moving our new life together to San Francisco. In the past year so much has changed…we have changed. We look back at our sweet southern wedding, with the pastel colors and rustic charm…and have the fondest of memories, but even in this short year it seems so far from who we are now. We wanted our anniversary shoot to reflect where we are now in life, in San Francisco – something a little more “city”. We also wanted to use this shoot to document a little twist on a one year anniversary tradition. As the tradition says, you’re supposed to save the top tier of your wedding cake to share on your first anniversary. We didn’t have a large cake, rather a dessert table, so we opted for something different. We wrote special notes to each other on the day of our wedding that would be placed in a wine box with a bottle of red wine, and kept there for the first year of our marriage. So instead of sharing a frozen piece of cake a year later, we enjoyed a bottle of red wine and two very sweet notes. We’re so excited to see where the next 5 or even 10 years takes us. Who knows what a 5 year anniversary shoot could look like!
I am an absolute sucker for roof decks. Hotel Union Square was the venue for our shoot, and they were incredibly accommodating, letting us wander the hotel!
The gorgeous jewelry pieces were made by Aileen of Truly Enchanted Jewelry. Hair was done by Justina of Intertwine Hair, and makeup was by Julianne of PrettyByJulianne. I love working with all of these talented ladies and am looking forward to many more collaborations in the future!
Love, love, love. I simply adore anniversary shoots, because they are a true celebration of love and marriage long after the pomp and circumstance of the wedding has died down. I love photographing my past clients and friends year after year, and I hope this continues to be an ongoing tradition and one that becomes only more and more popular over the years!
Thanks again to our amazing team from this shoot, and of course, Happy Anniversary, Abigail & Chris!
