Marrakesh, Morocco
Morocco! We were perhaps a bit ambitious with our itinerary, traveling all across the country in just one week, but then again, we couldn’t really bear parting with any of our excursions either. So we packed in as much tile, tagine, and mint tea as we could into less than seven days. Our flights were in and out of Marrakesh– we had snagged tickets for less than $700/ea.– and we would make a loop through Casablanca to Fes, down to the Sahara desert, up to the blue town of Chefchaouen, and back to Marrakesh. We kick off the blog posts with this lovely old city– Marrakesh!

Visit Marrakesh
Stay: This was our airbnb pictured above and our airbnb on the last night, which was by far the nicest place we stayed in Morocco and still incredibly affordable. The only thing was, we only got to sleep there for 5 hours before flying out the next morning!
Visit: Jemaa el Fna, a vibrant square filled with souks (markets). Shop for Moroccan goods, eat street food, and watch street performers. Best of all, wander around the medina (the old town) and get lost.
Visit: Bahia Palace, a beautiful palace-turned-museum with Moroccan architecture (think ornate carvings and lots of tile) on display.
Visit: a hammam, the Moroccan equivalent of a Turkish bath. Get scrubbed down in a sauna!
