KitTea Cat Cafe, San Francisco
I love the wave of cat cafes that seem to be opening all around the country (and the world). When my friend Saira asked if I wanted to check out Kit Tea in San Francisco, I jumped on it! To be honest, I’m more of a dog person, but I was still intrigued by the prospect of hanging out with cute cats while enjoying a nice cup of tea.
The space is divided into three rooms: A small entrance lobby; the tea lounge straight ahead, where drinks are ordered and prepared and where a few tables are provided; and to the left, the cat lounge. I made a 1-hour reservation for the cat lounge online, which included tea for our time there. Before entering the cat area, we were each given a brief orientation, and once inside, we were also given some dos and don’ts for our time with the cats.
This was such a great visit. The best part is that the cats come from shelters and are all adoptable. Over 70 cats have found new homes in the six months the cafe has been open! There are also fun events at Kit Tea like “mewvie night” and yoga with the cats too. Cat lovers’ paradise!
There’s also a cat cafe in Oakland, Cat Town, which I’ve been meaning to check out. Anyone want to come with?
