Welcome to my adventures in Philadelphia from last month! In which we try lots of great restaurants, we go on a Manayunk food tour, and I make a quick visit to a bunch of art museums.

First off, my hundred-day watercolor project is still going strong! See more on my instagram @makelearndo.

Two thumbs up for Townsend, visited with Jen & Matt.

Philly loves its beer gardens!

Our food tour of Manayunk, which is a neighborhood in the NW section of Philly. With Chew Philly Food Tours.

We started at Marciano’s with tomato pie (on the right), which, unlike the pizza we’re used to, doesn’t have a thick layer of cheese over the top (just a hearty sprinkling of romano) and is served at room temp or cold. On the left is a bread stuffed with pepperoni and cheese, which was delicious.

Secondly, a Philly soft pretzel. So important to the Philly food scene that there’s a statue commemorating them in Pretzel Park.

Next, a Philly cheesesteak, of course.

And then… Han Dynasty? Ok, sure. The restaurant now has three locations around Philly.

Cappuccinos from La Volo, which serves La Colombe Torrefaction coffee. It’s a Philly-based company.

Tubby Robot ice cream.

All in all, pretty tasty and an interesting tour. Then we walked around the neighborhood of Manayunk for a bit afterwards.

The Fine Art Fair at Rittenhouse Square.

Left, Yamitsuki Ramen. Right, a really underwhelming lobster boil at Red Owl Tavern. Would not bother to go again.

Museum time! The Barnes Institute.

The Rodin Museum.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art – Perelman Building, which houses the modern exhibits.

And the main building of the PMA, which is undergoing a renovation soon.

My sketch of the front of the museum.

More Chinatown eats.

Rolled ice cream.

And finally, Vernick.

Til next time (next week), Philly!
