The Yau Family | Pasadena Family Portraits
There’s so much I could say about the Yaus. I basically feel like I’m an extended part of their family. There was one point when I visited Jenny and Kevin down in LA eleven times in one year. It really felt like my second home. I’ve known Kevin since high school or college, but my photography journey with Kevin and Jenny together began in 2009 when I photographed their engagement session. Then I photographed their wedding in 2010, and we began photographing anniversary sessions and creating new albums for them every year: 2011, 2012, 2013. We fell off the wagon in 2014, but fast-forward to this year, and here we are with the eighth anniversary! Two kids have magically appeared! And we’re ready to continue this tradition with the next album in the series.
We headed to Pasadena City Hall, only to discover that the inside was blocked off for a wedding, but not to worry. We got plenty of adorable photos right outside instead. Right off the bat, we discovered that Ellie is a total ham and can take direction perfectly (if she feels like it).
Baby Erin took a little bit of warming up, but she gave us some adorable smiles too.
Sisterly love. I was there the first week after Erin had been born, and let’s just say that Ellie was not such a fan of her little sister back then.
And finally, a few shots in front of their home, which recently got a new paint job and landscaping out front!
They also got special treatment and I personally styled all their outfits with links to exact dresses to buy, haha. SO CUTE. And shout-out to Pei for styling Ellie and Jenny’s hair and helping out with the session too!
I’m so glad to resume our annual tradition. It’s a lot more work now with two littles to dress and photograph! But I can’t wait to make this new album and have Ellie see herself in the next volume of this love story.
