Second Thanksgiving in LA

|

After a week in Las Vegas, we continued on our grand road trip to Los Angeles for “Second Thanksgiving” with the Yaus.

Here is Alex at the Yauhaus. And our first meal, Taiwanese breakfast from Huge Tree.

Important activity, watching Michigan beat Ohio State for the first time in a decade! I was born at UMich but Kevin actually went there.

Pei made such thoughtful decor for the friendsgiving meal. Years ago we made a whole mini film about our Second Thanksgiving tradition. It’s so lovely to see it back after a pandemic hiatus last year.

Auntie Pei with E & E helping on drawings for the table. Then Bluey time with Uncle Alex.

A feast!

No wine opener means drill bit instead.

Thankful for gatherings with old friends and their next gen kiddos!

Pei’s pragmatic table decor… afterwards, you eat it for dessert. :)

Actual desserts, and my camera rig for the group photo… using Kev’s new egg waffle iron.

Happy Second Thanksgiving!

The next day, Alex and I ventured over to DTLA for Smorgasbord at The Row.

Breakfast burrito from Go Get Em Tiger.

Well now that I don’t need the Duke gear of course we came across some. This was like $100 though. I don’t know who is buying this stuff.

Lots of cute shops at The Row.

And finally, a little stop by Angel City Brewery to pick up some beers.

The day after Second Thanksgiving is turkey congee day! Plus the inaugural homemade egg waffles.

Pups!

And lastly, a little stop by Porto’s for takeout dinner before hitting the road back to the Bay.

A quick but lovely visit. Hope to do it again soon!
