Road trip to Ojai, California

|

We ventured out on a wonderful Southern California road trip last month, with Ojai as the ultimate destination. But of course, as with the best road trips, we made plenty of other stops along the way as well, including a two-night stay in Los Alamos.

First up, a stop for lunch in Paso Robles, which we had just visited in January.

A walk around San Luis Obispo.

A bit of relaxation time at Avila Beach.

After two nights in Los Alamos, we visited Bob’s Well Bread’s other location in Ballard, en route to Ojai.

And finally, arrival in Ojai! The downtown area is full of shops along this arcade.

Alex found this spot, an outdoor bookstore!

Quite charming, if also quite harsh on the books…

A former gas station-turned cute shop! Summer Camp.

Ojai is pronounced oh-hi. :)

Then we settled in to the Ojai Pub to watch the Duke Final Four game… which they sadly lost.

Final morning, Alex started with a bike ride from Ojai down to Ventura and back, while I made a visit to the Ojai farmer’s market and a few more shops nearby.

We saw all sorts of marketing for Ojai pixies, a very cute little tangerine that happened to be in season right when we arrived. I decided to get a bag to bring home, as well as a homemade pixie marmalade sold at the market.

Then we got lunch at Little Sama, which is the sister restaurant of Dim Sama, which we visited in Los Alamos, and Sama Sama in Santa Barbara, which we’ll have to check out on a future date. This one is located inside the Topa Topa Brewery.

Very excellent okonomiyaki tots. Would do again.

Then it was time to leave Ojai and head back north! A little coffee stop at Low Pigeon in Santa Barbara and a tri tip sandwich at Firestone Grill in SLO (not pictured) rounded out the trip.

And finally, back at home with our little pixie souvenirs.

We love a good California road trip! So grateful to live in such a beautiful and diverse state.
