Noms from Mom | Cookbook Club

|

Throughout 2024 I hosted my  Taiwanese American Cookbook Club as a way of celebrating and exploring all of the wonderful English-language Taiwanese cookbooks that have been published in recent years. It’s a special potluck series wherein all attendees make and bring a dish from the featured cookbook.

Our eighth and final cookbook club of the year featured Noms from Mom, a beautifully written and illustrated passion project by San Francisco native Nancy Jeng. She even joined us for the cookbook club herself!

I chose to make mung bean soup. Very simple!

Alex made ‘mouthwatering chicken.’

Nancy also brought homemade chili crisp as favors for all of the attendees. So lovely!

Alex made mouthwatering chicken; Cassie made lotus root stir-fry; Nancy made sesame cold noodles

I made sweet mung bean soup; Lily made chive boxes; Cassie made shrimp lettuce cups; Kammy made pork and shrimp wontons, modified with Impossible meats.

Our little cookbook club guest did an excellent job helping with the eating. Also, my Taiwanese fruit chopstick holders made by previous attendee Kristine!

We still have two more cookbooks to feature this year (until more get published)! Message me directly if you’re interested in joining a future  Taiwanese American Cookbook Club.
