Bay Area | March, 2025

Hello, March! Let’s get right into it. First, a virtual Office of Accountability meeting. I cannot remember why we were laughing.

I borrowed a tiny Sony RX100 V camera through my Sony Pro membership and used it all month. It’s a pocked-sized point and shoot, but I liked that it still had a wide aperture. I ended up liking it enough to buy one, but then I haven’t really used it since. I just use my full-sized mirrorless or my phone instead. Anyway, Que Viet with Vince.

FanFest with the Giants. The actual team is off at Spring Training in Arizona, so we get to meet alumni and affiliates instead of current players. JT Snow signed our t-shirt quilt!

Brian Wilson bobblehead giveaways at the gate.

Noah Lowry, another Giants alum, signing our quilt.

This was one of the last parts of the ballpark that we haven’t visited: the clubhouse and visitors’ clubhouse! All that’s really left is the service corridors and the front office section. We’ve even been to the secret bowling alley inside the ballpark.

Date night! It’s symphony season.

Garrick Ohlssohn performing Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto, as part of a Fire Relief concert for LA. Really lovely.

Momentous occasion! Arsicault is now open at Mission Rock! Long lines, but the croissants were worth it. The move is to come on a weekday mid-morning.

Birthday dinner for Alex’s mom.

Preseason Warriors game. We got little cooler bags that I actually use to this day.

Mom is in town! Visited my cousin’s cat and watched Elim Chan conduct Tchaikovsky at the symphony.

A really lovely dinner hosted by John and Steph in their home, as an appreciation for everyone who helped them with their Japan trip. They provided haiku place settings and invited us all to seat ourselves at whichever poem spoke to us. And John handmade all these chopsticks.

A little jaunt into Chinatown. Cute things at our favorite shop, On Waverly.

And walking in to Michelin-starred Mister Jiu’s. Pretty great, everyone should do it.

Mister Jiu’s, Kato, and Yeobo, Darling all have versions of scallion bread, and they are all slightly different and delicious.

Stopped by Ikeda’s fruit stand en route from Tahoe.

Catching up with Amy & Mike after we last saw them in Tokyo.

Videochat with Tiffany & E. And a pedicure date with Rebecca.

Cheering on our Blue Devils! This was before we busted out in the semifinals when we were very much expected to win the whole thing. Alas.

Happy to have our baby now, but it was not a fun nor easy path to get here. This was just one of many jab jabs on the way, and really one of the simpler ones– an iron infusion.

Souvla + Paper Son.

Still cheering for Duke, this time at Gott’s outside the Chase Center where other teams were playing for March Madness.

And finally, Gil Shaham at the San Francisco Symphony.

Pretty great first quarter of the year.
