Truckee & Tahoe

|

At least once a year, we’ll make the trek up to Tahoe for Alex to go snowboarding. After a few seasons of skiing at Palisades, Alex switched back to Northstar on Epic this year. And I spent some quality time hanging out at our Airbnb, visiting my favorites shops in downtown Truckee, and enjoying lodge life at the Ritz.

We drove up just in time to snag some baked goods from Sierra Bakehouse before their very limited Friday-only hours of 8am-2pm. And then we had very tasty lobster rolls at Bouy & Trap, which happened to be celebrating its second anniversary.

Continuing our little shopping circuit, we picked up some veggies from the Tahoe Food Hub and then visited the fanciest Raley’s.

Sausages from Mountain Valley Meats. And a homemade dinner assembled from our shopping stops.

The next morning, I dropped Alex off at Northstar and went to get myself a massage at Martis Valley Massage. Excellent.

Saying hello to my two favorite shops in downtown Truckee: Word After Word Books

and Atelier & Bespoke. Picked up some yarn for Cassie!

Back at the airbnb, my breakfast burrito from Coffeeshop. Easy & delicious.

And then it was time to pick up Alex! Pizza and ice cream at home.

I joined in at Northstar on the second day. Dropped Alex off, and settled in, first in the Coffeebar work space.

Then I took the gondola up to the Ritz and settled in at their coffeeshop for the rest of the afternoon.

Lovely mountain sunsets.

And one final dinner before rolling back home: Tangerine, a lovely French spot in Truckee.

The next month, we made our second trek up to Tahoe, this time to South Lake for Alex to ski at Heavenly.

I love staying up in Truckee, but it’s nice to actually see the lake too.

Michael drove up to join us for the weekend too, and we headed to Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen for Alex’s birthday dinner. Shepherd’s Pie!

They gave us all birthday desserts, very nice.

Was definitely tricky to find the sportsbook, but eventually located it and placed some bets.

Dropped the boys off for day two of snowboarding.

Lakeside dinner at the end of the day, and we watched the USF game that Michael had bet on… and he won his bet! I think he was betting against San Francisco, and they lost by one point in the last second, heh, sorry SF.

Beautiful. I love our opt-in winter weekends. California life.
