Elizabeth & Louie | Newport, Rhode Island Wedding Photography
Elizabeth had just graduated from college and decided to take a gap year before grad school in order to go on a grand backpacking trip around Europe with her friends. In order to save up for the trip, she picked up some odd jobs, one of which happened to be in a small post office branch. Meanwhile, Louie was working for his family’s business, and there happened to be a small post office branch inside one of the business properties… and yes, there he met the beautiful Elizabeth. Suddenly Louie found himself making excuses to run to the post office as frequently as possible. After a few months of teasing and inside jokes, he finally worked up the courage to ask Elizabeth out on a date, and here we are eight years later.
Elizabeth has always loved old world beauty, formal gardens, and the like, and so Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island provided the perfect setting for her wedding day with Louie. The mansion is located along the cliff where the Vanderbilts and other wealthy families built their gilded age vacation homes. This particular one was owned by a woman (rare for these mansions!) and was modeled after the Grand Trianon at Versailles. Such an elegant and glamorous backdrop for this wonderful couple!
I absolutely loved recreating these images for Elizabeth. She treasures these photographs of her mother getting ready on her wedding day and wanted to create her own version on her wedding day. So beautiful.
Mothers and daughters, gorgeous women all.
Over on the guys’ side, getting ready is a team effort.
And our groom Louie with all his groomsmen.
Bridesmaids, bridesmen, and flower girls too.
A little local touch, the popular Rhode Island frozen lemonade stand made a nice appearance for refreshments before the ceremony.
A beautiful setup framing the Atlantic.
I love a building at dusk!
And inside, the most elegant reception setup.
I loved this first dance surprise that Elizabeth had for everyone, especially the groom. She’s a talented pianist and doesn’t usually sing, but she recorded herself playing and singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for their first dance, and it was perfect.
Tears and laughs, the best combination.
A whole other room set up for desserts!
It was such wonderful, beautiful day.
Congratulations, Elizabeth & Louie!
