Bay Area Adventures | February, 2019
Join me on a quick tour through my February in the Bay. Most of the month I was actually gone in Asia, but here are the little adventures I went on while I was at home. First, a little shopping through Temescal Alley with my mom.
Some cute shops in Berkeley.
Tiffany & Greg’s going away party. So sad, but I’m excited for their next chapter in Sydney, Australia!
Dinner with my brother.
Hotpot at Do-Hee’s house. It’s an elephant in my bowl!
Love these people. We were missing Courtney for this one, but the rest of these ladies were our team for planning Amber Collective, our new community for Asian American women creatives in the Bay.
Paint Club! This meeting was at Fernanda’s studio in Oakland.
Carrie working on a client project– she’s a fiber artist!
Pamela working on a house portrait. And Carrie also brought her dog Howie, who became my watercolor model. Perfect.
Lizzie with her watercolors and Fernanda with some abstract acrylics.
Plus Stephanie with some beautiful birds and flowers. Here’s all of paint club! Sadly we’ve since lost Carrie to a full time job, but we’re also very happy for her!
Then I made my first-ever visit to the Oakland Zoo (unless you count a visit to their events hall without seeing any animals a decade ago). I went with my mom, who had seen a special about elephants at this zoo.
We met a friendly giraffe who stared at us for a good while. Some camels who were busy battling each other.
Sleepy lions. and elegant elephants.
There’s a free gondola ride included with your zoo admission! Such a nice view over the Bay. Oh, and the zoo is usually quite expensive, plus a $10 fee for parking, but thanks to my library card and Discover & Go, it was free for the both of us!
A very playful bear having tons of fun with scraps of cardboard.
And a couple more looks out over the bay.
Last but not least, our one and only in-person meeting to plan Amber Collective (with Do-Hee participating via videochat). So actually we never were all in the same place at the same time to work on this. But that’s the power of the internet (Slack) and five bossladies.
