Cassandra | Mood Shoots | Treasure Island Portrait Photography
Welcome to my newest personal project, a series of “mood shoots.” For these shoots, I wanted to explore a certain look and feel in my portraiture, working with light and shadow, styling, and directing. As with all my personal projects, I just sort of dream up these ideas and form a vision in my mind, and then it’s all about execution and letting them take on a life of their own.
This first shoot was a perfect Monday afternoon collaboration with Andrea Beltran on hair, Christina Chen on makeup, and Rosa Guerra helping to document the behind-the-scenes on video. We started in San Francisco for the hair and makeup and then headed to the mostly-deserted Treasure Island just east of the city for two hours of amazing portraits right at magic hour.
Our “model” Cassandra is actually my photography intern from two years ago. Multitalented and gorgeous. Perfect for this shoot.
I already have two more of these “mood shoots” lined up for June. I love the creative challenges of these personal projects and am so thankful to do what I love, day after day.
