San Francisco in October

|

For Jesse’s October visit to San Francisco, I got to do two tourists’ staples that I have still not managed to do in the six years that I’ve lived here: ride bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge and take the ferry out to Alcatraz Island. We’ll save Alcatraz for another post, but here’s our bike ride and some of our other adventures around the Bay from earlier this month:

I almost died going up this first hill, but we made it to this pretty little view.

Then there are no photos of the other side of the bridge, because we had to book it to make it to the ferry. Luckily it was mostly downhill from there. We made it on to the ferry as the lady was counting down with only seconds to spare.

Then we fast forward through from Fisherman’s Wharf back to Sports Basement in the Presidio where we rented the bikes… and on to Men Oh! I didn’t even know we had a Men Oh here in SF, but it’s my favorite in LA.

Day two began with brunch in Oakland and a brief visit to Oaktown Spice Shop.

The rest of day two will be in the posts to come. So we forward to day three, with some butternut squash ravioli from Gobble.

Then we had a spa day at Archimedes Banya out on the south side of San Francisco.

Afterwards, a visit to Flora Grubb Gardens, a veritable playground for plant lovers.

And then back to the Mission District. A bit of graffiti art in Clarion Alley.

And dinner at Urchin Bistrot. The eggdish (egg, caviar, uni) was my favorite. A solid uni spaghettini too.

And finally, to round out Jesse’s visit, a couple drinks at Trick Dog, known for their creative cocktails and cocktail menus! This one is an appropriately-themed San Francisco tourist map.
