San Francisco Staycation | October Travelogues
Thanks to an awesome hotel deal, I snagged a $25/night stay at Hotel Tomo, an adorable boutique hotel in San Francisco’s Japantown. Sure, it was a random Tuesday in the middle of the week, but I am not one to pass up the opportunity to enjoy a “staycation” right here in San Francisco. So I packed a little overnight bag and headed on over.
So much cute Japanese decor.
Every room comes with a yoga mat. Very San Francisco.
After I settled in, I took a little walk around Japantown.
Japanese treats!
And then for dinner, I walked over to the Fillmore area to meet up with Tiffany.
Pizzeria Delfina!
The next morning, I walked down Sutter St.
And I got to check out my new favorite tea spot in the city: Song Tea & Ceramics.
It’s a gorgeous space, and the people are super friendly and helpful too.
Amanda invited me and the one other person in the shop to taste any of their teas; I picked out a Taiwanese red tea.
It’s quite calming just to watch someone brew a cup of tea in a thousands-year-old way. We tried three brews of this “Twenty-One” tea. The third was by far the smoothest and least tannic. I wish I could’ve stayed to try a second tea, but I had to go to another meeting. So I’ll be back for another visit some time!
My other meeting of the day: chatting with an aspiring photographer over at B. Patisserie in Lower Haight. They’re known for their Kouign Amann– pumpkin spice version shown below.
And finally, I wrapped up my twenty-four hours in San Francisco with my October “Art for Art” shoot with my friend Matthias. More on that part soon!
I think a $25 hotel stay is a wonderful excuse to explore a new neighborhood and get away for just one night. Keeping an eye out for my next staycation opportunity!
