Amber & Ben | Buffalo, New York Wedding Photography
Amber and Ben first met at a bar in New York City, where he was donning a mullet wig and making ridiculous faces all night, but she somehow saw past all that and wanted to get to know him better. He soon won her over with humor and wit, and despite the fact that Ben was already in the process of moving across the world to Korea, they still made it work. Soon, Amber was visiting Ben in Seoul, they were trekking across Southeast Asia together, and then she was moving to Korea to be with him. When it came time to talk about marriage, they did just that. There was no elaborate proposal or diamond ring; Amber wanted neither of those things. Just a discussion and a joint decision to spend their lives together.
Their wedding in Buffalo, New York, included a small 20-person Jewish ceremony at Ben’s childhood home; a portrait session on an alpaca farm; and a backyard barbecue for a hundred of their closest friends and family. It was such a lovely way to celebrate the couple and all their loved ones who had allowed them to become who they are. What a joy to be a part of it!
How special is it for Ben to be married at the house where he grew up? I loved this wall of photos, many of which were wedding portraits. These images document such a wonderful legacy of love and family.
The signing of the ketubah, a Jewish marriage contract.
A quilt chuppah, tied to some trees in the back yard. Beautifully simple.
Mazel tov!
After lunch, we headed to a family friend’s alpaca farm for some portraits.
I think it’s safe to say I was more excited about the alpacas than anyone else. A couple of them were just week-old babies!
Favorites.
So sweet!
The next evening, we gathered again at a family friend’s home, this time for a slightly bigger celebration with Amber and Ben’s friends: a backyard barbecue.
We pulled off some same-day prints to go along with the Instax guest book!
Adorable.
And what Jewish wedding would be complete without some terrified excitement for the hora dance?
Love.
Congratulations, Amber & Ben!
