Bay Area | January, 2022
We started off the new year with a trip to Paso Robles, and once we came back, I tried to mentally catch up to the fact that it was a new year. Here’s a look at the start of 2022!
Behind the scenes with Terry (and Angela Davis + Yuri Kochiyama) in Oakland Chinatown for his portrait session. Afterwards, I picked up dinner from Pintoh.
First Office of Accountability meeting of 2022, back to virtual meetings thanks to omicron.
Boosted! Also, a whole instagrammer swag box from Alex’s cousin who works for Athletic Greens. I tried it and was not a fan, but other people seem to really like it.
Our regularly scheduled visit to Reeve Winery in Healdsburg to pick up our club wines. We brought Josh & Do-Hee this time.
Always love their wood-fired pizzas, complimentary with our members’ wine tastings!
Afterwards, a little jaunt around the town of Healdsburg. Josh foraged an orange from the town square.
Then mid-afternoon dinner at the new rooftop at Matheson, where the food on offer was… more pizza. Very tasty though!
Thanks for coming with us!
Pickling some purple daikon… and after, with our homemade crab fried rice.
Our book club, congratulating Kristin on her engagement!
Courtney treated me to a mani pedi for my birthday! This was only my second manicure since the pandemic. Thank you Courtney!
New year, new insurance, visiting the dentist for the first time since the pandemic as well. And also went to the eye doctor. Also, picking up Horn BBQ from Oakland.
Our first time at Reem’s in the Mission– they were very busy, but the food was tasty when it finally came out!
Special delivery! Amanda of Francis & Frances personally delivered my flowers for my birthday party — her birthday is actually two days before mine. Also, Do-Hee modeling some tea at the party! See the rest of my Asian American tea party here.
A visit from birthdays past… 2020‘s group-made shibori quilt.
Weekend bike ride around town, with a stop at Shake Shack for lunch.
Shibori skies.
Warriors!
Weekly virtual coworking on Discord.
Whitney chat!
I accompanied Alex to his hair cut in North Beach, and we got Sotto Mare afterwards.
Bringing our bikes down to South Bay on the back of the Jeep!
My first time biking around Shoreline Park and Mountain View.
But not my first time being at the Rengstorff House (a wedding venue).
Afterwards, lunch at Sushi Tomi- very delicious, would do again.
The next day, checking out another new-to-me park, this time for a run– the Los Gatos Creek Trail. And perfectly timed for a visit to their farmer’s market as well as the Manresa Bakery afterwards.
An abundance of camellias foraged from the back yard. And a glimpse at my desk situation with Roux and more fleurs, from Cassie’s birthday.
Another weekly coworking session.
Alex’s parents got a bunch of yuzus from their neighbor, so we made yuzu kosho and are now attempting to grow some sprouts from the seeds.
My first in-person visit to the actual Francis & Francis shop!
So cute, visit them in Cole Valley!
We went home with a bouquet to give Alex’s parents for Lunar New Year.
Next bike ride, around Palo Alto and over to the Stanford Campus.
Lunar New Year dinner with Alex’s family!
It’s kind of lovely to start over with another new year, one month into the new year.
And that was it for January. See you next month!
