A Weekend in San Diego

|

Alex has a goal to attend an MLB game in all 30 stadiums, so we’ve been making steady progress this year. San Diego was surprisingly still on the list, even though it’s right here in California. So it was time to pay a visit to the Padres while our Giants were on the road there!

It’s super quick to fly down from the Bay. Here is a look over the Dunbarton salt flats as we leave the Bay, and landing right next to downtown San Diego. You can see the stadium if you look closely.

Stop one: James Coffe Co. in Little Italy.

The first fish tacos of the trip: Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill.

We parked back in Little Italy by Ballast Point Brewing and took a light rail train over to the ballpark.

Here we are at Petco Park! They have an actual park beyond the outfield as part of this ballpark. Pretty cool.

There’s even a beach in this strip between the park and the field. I mean, who doesn’t love visiting sunny San Diego?

Secured our stamp for our MLB passport book! Ballpark number seventeen, check.

Still knitting puffs! Plus the tri tip nachos. Excellent. They even have a Din Tai Fung inside this ballpark.

Best of all, the Giants won! Rodon threw a complete game. And we had a lovely time at the ballpark.

Afterwards, some paletas to compensate for the scorching sunshine.

Dinner at Taunki.

Day two, starting off with breakfast at Wayfarer.

Making some new friends, up close and personal at La Jolla Cove.

Fish tacos #2, El Pescador Fish Market.

Wandering around North Park.

Balboa Park

Favorite meal in San Diego! Golden hour at Kingfisher.

Ocean Beach

Final day in San Diego: Las Cuatro Milpas.

Coronado Island.

Knitting by the beach, with my brand new sunglasses I got from Pigment the day before.

Acai bowl from Northside Shack recommended by my friend Courtney!

Time to squeeze in a national monument: Cabrillo National Monument and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.

Such a handy sign for identifying the many military airplanes that fly by.

And one final spot, the Modern Times brewery, which was the perfect spot chosen by Alex so I could have my book club on zoom but he could also order us tacos from The Taco Stand around the corner to squeeze in dinner before our flight.

And that was it! A sunny San Diego weekend.
