Catherine & Joe | 6 Years After I Do

|

I am so excited to introduce a new blog series, After I Do, in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Anna Wu Photography! I’m very grateful to have made it this far in my business. None of this would be possible without my wonderful wedding couples who have trusted me to capture their special moments throughout the years. So I thought I would catch up with some of them to see where they are today and if they have any advice looking back.

First up, meet Catherine & Joe! They were wed at the General’s Residence in Fort Mason, San Francisco, on October 22, 2011.

So… How has life has changed in the last 6 years?

So much! We’ll be married 6 years this October. Since then, Cathy’s changed jobs twice, Joe’s been promoted to partner at Ernst & Young, and we welcomed twin boys in Feb 2016 (after several years of trying). There were some challenging times going through what we did to get these beautiful babies but it definitely brought us closer and made us so thankful for where we are today.

Do you ever look back at your wedding photos? Do you have any favorite images from your wedding day?

Yes we have quite a few framed and up around the house! We take the boys downstairs every night to go to bed and we always pass this certain picture and ask them “where’s mommy? where’s daddy?” and they point and smile at us. That one’s a particular favorite.

Looking back on your wedding day, is there anything you wish you had known or done differently?

I tell everyone that the one thing I wish we had done differently is we didn’t do the traditional table to table greeting. We thought it was old-fashioned and we were pressed for time so skipped it, but there were so many people that came that we just didn’t get to really greet face to face which is a shame.

Any advice for couples who are about to get married?

We don’t think we’re in a position to give marriage advice. But, for the wedding, we tell people to agree on 5 words together of how they want the day to go. Then, all your wedding planning decisions should come back to those 5 words. Ours were: Friends, Family, Fun, Relaxed, and Simple.

Top three hopes or things you are looking forward to in your future?

We hope to be in a new home in 2017, looking forward to seeing these boys grow and discover the world, and hoping for health and happiness!

If you’re a past wedding client and would like to be included in this series, it’s not too late to fill out the form!
