It was a fun day filled with sly Star Wars references set against beautiful California backdrops. Serena and Cliff share a love (some might call it an obsession) for Star Wars. Their dogs are named R2D2 and Leia. All the groomsmen wore Stormtrooper socks under their dapper gray suits. They even had a little light saber fight with their…
Last weekend, I teamed up with Brianne of Brown Fox Calligraphy and Melanie of Hawthorn Flower Studio to offer our “Calligraphy and Centerpieces” workshop in San Francisco. We had a full class of ten awesome students. They first learned the basics of calligraphy for menus and escort cards and then each got to create a…
Oh no! On their way to the ceremony, Jessica and Young got swept away into a portal and became hostages of a wizard who hates love. In order to rescue them, their friends and family would need to solve a series of puzzles, prove their love for the couple, and defeat the wizard’s spell! So began this very…
Two mini adventures with Duke friends around the Bay. One: Point Reyes, a tree tunnel, and an abandoned ship. Two: A hike up Panoramic Hill with views as lovely as promised. Debo, Dan, and I headed up to North Bay. Our first stop: Point Reyes lighthouse. Next, we went to visit this awesome tree tunnel! …
My friend Sarah is the epitome of boho chic. She splits her time between Paris and California and is always off on a new adventure, trekking across the world by herself or with friends in different countries every year. For her birthday, she held a low-key but adorable little gathering in the spare room of…

It was such a special treat to return to this beautiful Sunol home and photograph my second wedding there. My first wedding at the house was for Bryna’s brother Ryan in 2011. This time, I got to meet and work with Bryna and her groom Andrew. Bryna and Andrew have been together for twelve years, and over half of that was…
Stephanie and Ian both went to the University of California in Berkeley, but that’s not where they met. It was years later, at the Berkeley alumni bar in New York City, that they met while watching a Cal football game. They ended up living in New York City and in Washington, DC together for several years,…

I was thrilled to help Melanie of Hawthorn Flower Studio photograph a floral lookbook for her new marketing collateral. One of my favorite venues, The Berkeley City Club, provided the perfect setting for our shoot. See it all below: What a privilege to work with such talented friends! See more of Melanie’s floral work at…
They were friends for two years, with Dora refusing to give in to any of Ken’s hopeful advances toward her. It wasn’t until the day that he had decided to give up that Dora had a change of heart. She saw this man who had so patiently cared for her and suddenly realized she couldn’t…
I first met and photographed Shawna six years ago, when her first book Water Ghosts had just been released by Penguin Press. Now her second novel has been completed and is available for preordering: Green Island. The book has been Shawna’s labor of love over the last decade and is a work of historic fiction set against the backdrop of Taiwanese and…
