Roots | Taipei, Taiwan | Pointe of View

Every Monday, I feature an image and backstory from my Pointe of View series. Visit the Kickstarter page to preorder the book.

It feels amazing to return to Taipei again. Both my parents are from Taiwan, though I was born in the U.S. and have always lived in America. It’s been six years since I last visited Taiwan, so I was excited to be able to tack on ten days in Taiwan to my ten days in Japan.

I kicked off this Taiwan trip with a wonderful shoot with two dancers in Taipei today. We met at the Taipei American School where both Iris and Kendra attend high school, and we headed north to Beitou for some exploring around the park and the library areas. Below is a little sneak peek of Iris and a wonderful little homage to my return to my roots.

Ballet dancer: Iris Hsu
