Pointe of View Party, San Francisco!

Every Monday, I feature an image and backstory from my Pointe of View series.

Hooray! Thank you so much to all of you who came to the book launch party in San Francisco this weekend. It was so wonderful to see everyone and to celebrate the successful release of my ! An extra big thank you goes to Jesse and to Rosa for helping with all of the party setup and to Liz for baking many of the tasty goodies you see below. This was a labor of love, but it turned out beautifully! Enjoy a glimpse of the party below.

All the photos of me were taken by my ever awesome intern Rosa. She endured a cardboard paper cut, a needle stick while trying to sew pom poms, and she almost fell off the ladder from hanging that ribbon banner. She deserves millions of thanks for all her hard work!

Thank you to Shau-Ru for lending her lovely cake platters for the dessert station!

Marina is one of the dancers featured in the project! It was great to see her and her boyfriend Anthony as they came to check out her “Shadow Play” photo in the book.

I did all of the floral arrangements myself! It’s become my new DIY obsession. We also set up a silent auction and sold off all of these beautiful prints, from small 4×6″s to framed prints to giant canvases– including a 40″x60″ flat canvas.

Thanks to Sharon for lending some of her old (but still pretty) pointe shoes for decor! I’ll be posting tutorials on these tutu pompoms and the fabric banner soon too.

Ilya is the proud new owner of the 20×30″ “Silk and Steel” canvas.

And last but not least, some group photos with my awesome friends who stopped by… I didn’t get everyone who came! But thank you to everyone, even those who aren’t pictured below!

Pointe of View is a book of images from the ballerina photography series by Anna Wu. It has a hardcover printed wrap and contains over 40 color and black and white photographs from all over the world. Books are expected to ship by the end of August, 2013
