Tidal Basin at Dawn | Pointe of View

Every Monday, I feature an image and backstory from my Pointe of View series.

We started the day at 4am with hair and makeup and then took a cab at 6am to the famous Tidal Basin of D.C., encircled with its monuments and the beautiful Japanese cherry blossoms that grace the area with their fleeting pink puffs year after year. Despite the early start to the day, dozens of fellow photographers already had the same idea and lined the banks with their tripods and lenses. But every so often, we’d find a beautiful corner where the crowds had thinned, the blossoms bowed down, and it was all simply magic.
